Sending a Test Message Before Going Live

Updated 9/3/2026

Before sending a message to your entire community, it is a good idea to send a test copy to yourself so you can check formatting and links. The test email goes only to you and is clearly marked so it cannot be confused with the real send.

How to Send a Test Email

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Modules > Messaging > Email List.
  2. Find the message in the Drafts or Scheduled tab.
  3. Click the action menu (3 dots) next to the message.
  4. Click Send Test.
  5. A dialog appears showing the message subject and your email address (pre-filled from your account).
  6. Confirm or update the email address if needed.
  7. Click Send Test.
  8. A confirmation message appears when the test has been sent.

What the Test Email Looks Like

  • The subject line is prefixed with [TEST] so you know it is not the real send.
  • The content is identical to what recipients would receive, including any template styling and attachments.

Note: Sending a test does not mark the message as sent, change its status, or count toward delivery tracking.
