Every incident in the Neighborhood Watch module has one of three statuses. The status controls whether residents can see the incident and whether an email alert can be sent.
The Three Statuses
Pending
A pending incident has been submitted but is not yet visible to residents. This status is used when you want to review an incident before it goes live. No email alert is sent while an incident is Pending.
When a resident submits an incident through the site, your Settings control whether it arrives as Pending (requiring admin approval) or as Active (immediately visible). See "Controlling Who Can Submit Incidents" for details.
Active
An Active incident is visible to all residents on the site. When you set an incident to Active — either when creating it or by editing an existing Pending incident — you have the option to send an email alert to all subscribed members at that moment.
Note: The email alert is sent immediately when you save the incident as Active and the Send an email incident alert to all subscribed members checkbox is checked. It is not sent retroactively if you later re-save an already-Active incident without changing its status.
Disabled
A Disabled incident is hidden from residents but is not deleted. You can re-enable it at any time by changing its status back to Pending or Active.
