Editing and Deleting an Incident

Updated 5/4/2026

Both editing and deleting an incident start from the same place: navigate to Administer Site > Neighborhood Watch, then click the description of the incident you want to work with to open the Update Incident form.

Editing an Incident

You can edit any incident after it has been created — to correct information, change its status, or send an email alert that was not sent at creation time.

How to Edit an Incident

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Neighborhood Watch.
  2. In the incidents table, click the description text of the incident you want to edit.
  3. The Update Incident form opens, pre-filled with all current values.
  4. Make your changes. All fields from the Create form are available: Posted By, Incident Date, Description, Attachments, and Status.
  5. Click Save to apply your changes, or Cancel to discard them and return to the list.

Sending an Email Alert When Editing

If an incident was created as Pending and you are now changing it to Active, the email alert checkbox appears when you select Active from the Status dropdown. Check Send an email incident alert to all subscribed members to notify residents at this point.

Warning: If you save an incident that is already Active and check the email alert box again, the system will send another round of emails to all subscribed members. Only check the box when you intend to notify members.

Deleting an Incident

Deleting an incident permanently removes it from the system. Use this only when the record is no longer needed — for example, if an incident was entered in error.

How to Delete an Incident

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Neighborhood Watch.
  2. Click the description of the incident you want to delete.
  3. At the bottom of the Update Incident form, click Delete.
  4. A confirmation dialog asks whether you are sure. Click OK to confirm the deletion, or Cancel to return to the form.

Warning: Deletion is permanent. There is no way to recover a deleted incident. If you want to hide an incident from residents without losing the record, change its Status to Disabled instead.
