Administrators can create an incident directly from the admin area. You control the date, description, attachments, and whether residents are notified by email.
How to Create an Incident
- Navigate to Administer Site > Neighborhood Watch.
- Click Create Alert (top right of the page).
- Fill in the required fields:
Posted By (required)
Enter the name to display as the source of this report — typically the submitting resident's name or a board designation such as "HOA Board."
Incident Date (required)
Click the calendar icon to select the date the incident occurred. This is the date of the event itself, not the date you are entering it into the system.
Description (required)
Enter the incident details in the text editor. You can format the text, add bullet points, and include links. Be specific but concise — residents will see this content on the site and in email alerts.
Attachments
If file attachments are enabled in your Settings, an upload area appears below the Description field. You can attach up to 10 files of any type. To include an attachment:
- Click the upload area or drag and drop your files.
- Previously uploaded files from your account appear below the upload area and can be selected for reuse.
Note: The Allow File Attachments setting in Neighborhood Watch Settings controls whether the attachment area appears. If you do not see it, ask your site administrator to enable it.
Status (required)
Choose from:
- Pending — Saves the incident without publishing it. No email is sent.
- Active — Publishes the incident immediately. An email alert option appears (see below).
- Disabled — Saves the incident in a hidden state.
Send Email Alert (appears when Status is Active)
When you set Status to Active, a checkbox appears: Send an email incident alert to all subscribed members. Check this box to send an email notification to every member who has not opted out of Neighborhood Watch alerts. Leave it unchecked to publish the incident without sending email.
- Click Save to create the incident, or Cancel to discard and return to the list.
After Saving
You are returned to the incidents list. If you sent an email alert, delivery begins immediately in the background.
