Configuring Classifieds Settings

Updated 5/3/2026

The Settings tab controls the core behavior of the Classifieds module for your community. This tab is visible only to super-administrators.

Getting to Settings

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Classifieds.
  2. Click the Settings tab.

The settings are organized into two tabs: General and Notifications.

General Settings

Access Type (required)

Determines who can post classified ads. Select from the available account-type options (for example, members only, or all registered users). This controls resident posting access — administrators can always create and edit ads regardless of this setting.

Allow Posting (required)

  • On — Residents can submit ads through the resident-facing classifieds page.
  • Off — Resident posting is disabled. When this is set to Off, an Approval Message field appears where you can enter a custom message (with rich text formatting) that residents will see instead of the posting form. Use this to explain that posting is currently unavailable or that they should contact the board.

Ad Expiration (required)

Controls how long an ad stays active before it is automatically disabled.

  • Never — Ads remain active indefinitely unless manually disabled or deleted.
  • 1 Month through 6 Months — Ads older than the selected period are automatically disabled.

Note: When expiration is set, the expiration clock resets each time an ad is saved. Admins see a reminder banner at the top of the ad create and edit forms.

Intro

Optional rich text content that appears at the top of the classifieds landing page in the resident area. Use this to set expectations or provide guidelines for posting.

Confirmation

Optional rich text content that appears to residents after they successfully submit an ad. Use this to describe the review process or provide next steps.

Saving Settings

After making changes on either tab, click Save at the bottom of the form. Both tabs are saved together with a single Save action.
