Using an Image as Your Site Header

Updated 5/4/2026

The Image header type displays a single banner graphic at the top of your site. This is the simplest header option and works well when you have a professionally designed banner image.

Before You Begin

Prepare your banner image. Most themes require the image to be at least 1024 pixels wide to span the full page width. There is no maximum height, however, you should keep it short to prevent residents from having to scroll a lot on each page. If you later change your theme's page width setting, your header image may need to be resized.

How to Set Up an Image Header

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Settings > Header & Footer.
  2. The Header tab opens by default.
  3. Set Use Custom Header to Yes. Additional options appear below.
  4. Set Header Type to Image.
  5. In the Image field, type the file path or click Browse to select an image from your file library.
  6. If an image is already selected, click Preview to open it in a pop-up and verify it looks correct.
  7. Set Image Position to control how the image aligns within the header area:
    • Left Aligned — Anchors the image to the left edge.
    • Center — Centers the image horizontally.
    • Right Aligned — Anchors the image to the right edge.
  8. Click Save.

Switching Back to the Default Theme Header

To stop using a custom header and return to the theme's built-in header:

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Settings > Header & Footer.
  2. Set Use Custom Header to No.
  3. Click Save.
