Every business listing and every review in the Recommendations module has one of three statuses. Understanding these statuses helps you control what residents see on the site.
The Three Statuses
Approved
An approved business or review is visible to residents on the site. In the admin interface, approved items show as Active in the underlying data, but the dropdown labels and filter options display the value as Approved.
Pending
A pending item has been submitted but is not yet visible to residents. Depending on your Settings, new resident submissions may start as Pending automatically, requiring you to review and approve them before they go live.
Disabled
A disabled item has been hidden by an administrator. It is not visible to residents, but the record is preserved and can be re-approved at any time.
How Status Affects Resident Visibility
- Only Approved businesses appear in the resident-facing directory.
- Only Approved reviews appear under a business listing for residents.
- Pending and Disabled items are invisible to residents until an administrator changes their status to Approved.
Changing a Status
You can change the status of a business from the business edit form, and the status of a review from the review edit form. When you change a status, a checkbox labeled Send a status change email to the resident will appear. Leave it checked to notify the resident automatically.
Note: The status change email is only sent if the resident has an email address on file in their account profile.
