Configuring Recommendations Settings

The Settings tab controls the overall behavior of the Recommendations module for your community.

Getting to Settings

  1. Navigate to Administer Site > Recommendations.
  2. Click the Settings tab.

Note: The Settings tab is only visible to administrators with a group level of 90 or higher.

General Settings (tab 1)

Module Title

The name of the module as it appears to residents on your site. This field is required.

Access Type

Controls which member types can view and interact with the Recommendations module on the resident-facing site. Select from the available access level options (for example, All Members, Residents Only, or Administrators Only).

Enable Business

Controls when a business submitted by a resident becomes visible:

  • Immediately — The business is set to Approved status as soon as the resident submits it and appears on the site right away.
  • After Admin Approval — The business is set to Pending status when submitted and remains hidden until an administrator changes it to Approved.

Enable Reviews

Controls when a review submitted by a resident becomes visible:

  • Immediately — The review is set to Approved and appears on the business listing right away.
  • After Admin Approval — The review is set to Pending and remains hidden until an administrator approves it.

Tip: Setting both Business and Reviews to After Admin Approval gives you full control over what appears in the directory, but requires regular attention to process the pending queue. Immediately is lower-maintenance but means resident submissions go live without a review step.

Introductory Text

Optional rich-text content displayed to residents at the top of the Recommendations module page. Use this to explain the purpose of the directory, any community guidelines for submissions, or other context.

Confirmation Message (New)

The message shown to a resident after they successfully submit a new business or review. Rich text is supported.

Confirmation Message (Update)

The message shown to a resident after they successfully update an existing business or review. Rich text is supported.

Saving Settings

After making any changes, click Save at the bottom of the form.
