General Settings is where you manage your site's core identity — its name, search engine information, time zone, and favicon. These settings apply to your whole site and are independent of any particular module.
Getting There
- Log in with an administrator account.
- Click Administer Site in the top navigation bar.
- In the left-hand menu, click Settings, then select General Settings.
The Four Tabs
General Settings is organized into four tabs. Each tab saves together with the others when you click Save.
Site Name
Set the display name of your site and view your website URL. The site name appears in the browser title bar and is used throughout the site.
Search Engines
Add metadata keywords and a description that search engines use when indexing your site. Good metadata can improve how your site ranks in search results.
Time Settings
Adjust the time zone offset so that dates and times displayed on your site match your community's local time. The server operates in Eastern Time.
Favicon
Upload a custom favicon — the small icon that appears in the browser tab next to your site's title.
Saving Changes
After making changes on any tab, click Save to apply them. Click Cancel to return to the admin dashboard without saving.
