Understanding Categories and Questions

Updated 5/3/2026

The FAQs module is organized into two levels: categories and questions. Understanding the relationship between them will help you plan and maintain your FAQ content.

Categories

A category is a grouping of related questions — for example, "Pool Rules," "Parking," or "Annual Dues." Every question must belong to a category.

Each category has its own:

  • Title — The heading residents see on the FAQ page.
  • Introduction — Optional descriptive text displayed below the category title (supports rich text formatting).
  • Access Restriction — Which member group can see this category (for example, all residents, board members only, etc.).
  • Visibility — Whether the category is published (on) or hidden (off).

Questions

A question is a single FAQ entry. Each question has:

  • Category — The category it belongs to.
  • Question — The question text, displayed as a heading.
  • Answer — The full answer, supports rich text formatting.
  • Visibility — Whether the question is published (on) or hidden (off).

Note: A question's visibility is independent of its category's visibility. If a category is hidden, none of its questions are shown to residents, even if individual questions are set to visible.

Display Order

Both categories and questions have a drag-and-drop order. The order you set in the admin area is exactly the order residents see on the FAQ page.
