What the Splash Page Is and When to Use It

Updated 5/4/2026

A splash page is an introductory screen that visitors see before entering the main content of your site. It replaces the normal homepage for unauthenticated visitors.

What the Splash Page Does

When the splash page is turned on, visitors who navigate to your site's main URL see only the splash content instead of the regular homepage. You can include any content in the splash — a welcome message, community news, important announcements, or an image — using the rich text editor.

An optional Enter Site link can be shown on the splash page. Clicking it takes visitors to the main part of the site.

When to Use a Splash Page

The splash page is useful when:

  • Your community site is primarily for members only and you want public visitors to see a brief introduction before being prompted to log in.
  • You want to display important information (such as a road closure or emergency notice) that must be seen before entering the site.
  • You are preparing a site redesign and want to show a "coming soon" message.

When Not to Use a Splash Page

Leave the splash page off for day-to-day operation. Most communities only turn it on temporarily or for specific situations.
