Why a Module Is Unavailable or Grayed Out

Updated 5/4/2026

There are two separate reasons a module on the Enable/Disable Modules page may be unavailable: the toggle switch may be grayed out and unclickable, or the module may be listed and toggleable but inaccessible because your plan does not include it.

The Toggle Is Grayed Out

Some module toggle switches appear grayed out and cannot be clicked. This is expected behavior.

Certain built-in platform features are required for the site to function correctly and cannot be turned off. These modules are marked internally as always enabled. Their toggle switch is visible on the page but is disabled — you cannot interact with it.

You do not need to take any action. These modules are always on and will always appear in the navigation.

Note: If a toggle is grayed out, it is because the module is configured as always-on by the platform. This is not a permissions issue and cannot be changed by administrators.

The Module Is Not on Your Plan

Some modules require a specific subscription plan. If your site is not on the required tier, you may still see the module listed on the Enable/Disable Modules page and be able to toggle it, but attempting to open the module in the admin area will show an upgrade prompt rather than the module itself.

Each module has a minimum plan requirement:

  • Starter plan or higher — Required for: Classifieds, Facilities, Find a Sitter, Messaging, Neighborhood Watch, Violations, Manage Email Accounts, Access WebMail.
  • No minimum — All remaining modules are available on any plan, including the trial.

If your site does not meet the minimum plan for a module, navigating to that module displays the message: "This feature is not available on your current plan."

To unlock a plan-gated module:

  1. Visit the pricing page at  https://www.hoatotalaccess.com/pricing  to review available plans.
  2. To change your plan, navigate to  https://www.hoatotalaccess.com/members/plan/  to change your subscription.
  3. Once your plan is upgraded, the module becomes fully accessible without any additional configuration.

Note: Enabling a plan-gated module toggle on the Enable/Disable Modules page when your plan does not include it has no harmful effect — it simply means the module is switched on but cannot be used until the plan is upgraded.
