The News Ticker module displays a scrolling strip of short news items across your community website. Each item can contain formatted text, an optional link, and can be restricted to specific member types. This article introduces the module and explains how to navigate it.
Getting There
- Log in to your site with an administrator account.
- Click Administer Site in the top navigation bar.
- In the left-hand menu, click Modules, then select News Ticker.
The Two Sections
Once inside the News Ticker module, you will see two tabs across the top.
News List
This is the main workspace. It displays all of your news items in a sortable table. From here you can add new items, open existing items to edit or delete them, and drag items into the order you want them to appear.
Settings
Controls how the ticker behaves on your site. Currently this section contains one option: the speed at which items rotate in the ticker strip.
What Residents See
Residents see the ticker as a scrolling or rotating strip, typically displayed near the top of the page. Items rotate at the speed you configure in Settings. Only items marked Visible: On appear in the ticker. Items restricted to a specific access type are only visible to members who belong to that group.
